Facebook and Instagram Users Report Outage

Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has announced the restoration of its services after a global outage. The disruption earlier today hindered users’ access to both platforms. Andy Stone, Communications Director at Meta, apologized for the inconvenience caused and confirmed the swift resolution of the technical issue.

Stone stated, “Earlier today, a technical issue caused difficulties for people accessing some of our services. We resolved the issue as quickly as possible for everyone impacted, and we apologize for any inconvenience.”

The outage affected users worldwide, leading to frustration among those reliant on the platforms for communication and entertainment.

User relief

Upon the service restoration, users expressed relief and gratitude for Meta’s prompt response. Many shared their experiences on social media, acknowledging Meta’s timely intervention.

Login problems and feed refresh issues

Users encountered various issues, including being logged out of Facebook accounts and experiencing feed refresh problems on Instagram. Threads, a Meta-developed app, also faced a complete shutdown.

Rapid surge in reports

Reports on DownDetector, a website tracking internet service outages, surged rapidly for all three platforms during the outage. Despite user complaints, Meta initially refrained from officially acknowledging the problem.

Meta acknowledges service disruption through spokesperson’s tweet

Acknowledging the disruption, Andy Stone addressed the issue on Twitter, stating, “We’re aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now.”

The tweet followed numerous user reports of difficulties accessing Meta-owned platforms, sparking frustration and concern among the user base.
